Cancer is the cause of more than a quarter of all deaths in the UK. However, cancer mortality rates have dropped by 11% over the last ten years, thanks to advances in cancer research.

Each year Cancer Research UK spend around £191 million on scientific research of which the majority of the money comes from public donations and public fundraising. To enable the scientists to do their job and give them the technology and labs they need, this amount of money and more is needed every year.

This is where I come in- with your help. In March 2006, I will be trekking to Mt. Everest Base Camp with thirty other people from across Britain to raise money. The challenge is grueling 15days walking, reaching height of 17,600ft (Base Camp). I have already paid £350 towards travel expenses and now need to raise £3500 for the charity by January 2006 to allow me to participate in this physically and mentally challenging expedition.

I have started training for this expedition by going to the gym four times a week and undertaking lots of hill walking. So this isn't an easy challenge but will be enjoyable and extremely worthwhile if I can help fund the most important scientific research in the World. Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
