Story
Saturday 17th October dawned clear, dry and cold. The riverside between Richmond and Kingston was ready to receive 672 pairs of feet, 671 pairs of which were in sensible, 21st century, running shoes. It took a couple of minutes to get everyone through the start gate, with 10km of fairly flat ground ahead. I started as far back as I could, knowing that would be my place. Slow and steady was the rule, and I managed to run more than I walked. Then, finally, to cries of "There's a man in a suit!" and "Are you late for work?", I crossed the line in 653rd place, in a personal best (and worst) time of 1 hour, 15 minutes and 58 seconds. My tie remained steadfastly in place throughout, as I am sure you would have expected. I hope you enjoy some of the photos of the event which I have attached.
A huge thank you to all those who supported me, not only by your generous donations to the work of WOMANKIND Worldwide but also your many words and messages of support and encouragement. Would I do it again? Perhaps...
