As many of you will know I lost my beloved mum in July last year after a short but brave battle against cancer. The year as a whole was difficult with the diagnosis of my mum and me being pregnant with my third child.
My mum was diagnosed in late November 2008 with a terminal brain tumour and after a major operation in December 2008 she underwent an intense and aggressive bout of both chemo and radio theropy in early January 2009. My mum ever the fighter was determined not to let this illness beat her and tackled it head on, never complaining and in her words was 'FINE' no mater what was thrown at her. She was determined to see her beloved grandchildren grow up. Unfortunately it wasn't to be, she lost her battle in early July 2009, just 8 months after her initial diagnosis, spending the last 6 weeks of her life being cared for at Lindsey Lodge. She did however get to hold, love and have kisses and cuddles with her new grand daughter before she died.
I cannot praise both the facilities and the staff at Lindsey lodge enough, nothing is to much trouble for them and I don't feel I would have coped without the help and support they offered both my mum and my family during her time at the lodge. In my eyes they are an amazing group of people who I will be eternally grateful to.
The lodge is mainly funded by fundraising and donations from the general public and with this in mind I am taking part in both the Sleep Walk in July and the Great North Run in September 2010 both for the first time, to raise money for this worth while charity and help those who are now in need of the lodges services. So please dig deep and support me in my efforts.
Many thanks
Kerry
