Story

Thanks to you all I made the magical £10k, the money is much needed !!!

Well the challenge has been completed! Wow!! what a view when you're on top of the mountains. Your support has been overwhelming and as you can see I'm well over target. In fact so close to £10,000 I would like to try and finish on this amazing sum for our service men and women injured in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Annapurna Range is home to some of the highest peaks in the world and we will be trekking between 9 and 11 hours each day for 5 days. Travelling time is extra. This is an organised event with H4H.

Lets not forget why Help for Heroes needs the money! In 2010 there has been 1,113 soldiers treated in the field hospitals and 458 wounded in action in Afghanistan. 11,520 WIA since 2006. All these service people need additional support for their rehabilitation.

I’ll also need to train and increase my fitness in ascending and descending steep mountain slopes. As part of this training I’ll again be competing in the Para 10 challenge, attempting to beat my time of last year. This challenge forms part of the Parachute regiments selection test, running 10 miles across country carrying a 35lb pack in less than 1hour 50minutes,of course wearing army boots. OMG!! I completed this endurance race with my son Darren who is serving with the Royal Engineers. Crossed the line together in 1hr 45min and achieved the "P" company Challenge! Good bit of training in readiness for the Himalayas.

I do need to raise sponsorship greater than last year and welcome private and corporate support for much needed funds which help Service personnel who have suffered horrific injuries and life changing disabilities, thank you.

A Big Thanks to my Corporate Sponsors: http://www.battlezonepaintball.co.uk

Firstly I would like to thank all who sponsored me last year and for their kind donations.

This year I have set myself a more demanding challenge. In November 2010 I will be part of an organised expedition to trek part of the Annapurna mountain range (Himalayas) in Nepal. This is again a physically demanding challenge, what with me pushing the big Five Zero !

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I'm still taking any sponsorship until the beginning of next year and would welcome any corporate donation.

Again big thanks for your support.
