The cost of orthopaedic surgery is prohibitive to the majority of patients leaving them to face a lifetime of pain and disability!!
In November 2010 the MEAK Kenya Orthopaedic Project team went to Coast Provincial General Hospital, Mombasa to reduce the burden of trauma in the Mombasa district and to improve the overall care of trauma patients. This year they are doing it again and I am going with them!!
101 patients were seen and 47 procedures carried out during the project last year, which was considered a very successful result especially given the complexity of the majority of patients.
The MEAK KOP team worked side by side with the Kenyan team with daily teaching sessions being offered by the UK team.
With the help of your donations we can return to Kenya and complete a second successful mission which offers the opportunity of treatment to those impoverished patients who are unable to afford treatment.
