Over the next 7 months I will be running my way through seven gruelling half marathons, each one along a different section of the UK coastline. The races will be full of steep hills, muddy lanes and sandy beaches - a real test for my trainers! I successfully completed six of the seven races. I was forced to miss race 5 due to illness but made up the miles with a half marathon along the South Downs Way. All in all - 7 months, 94 race miles, countless training miles and hopefully many happy animals as a result.
I'm running to raise money for Richmond Animal Rescue & Care - a local charity doing great work rescuing and re-homing animals in need of a bit of TLC. Sadly, in the current economic climate, more and more animals are being abandoned or given up to charities like this one. Without help and donations from caring people - they wouldn't be able to continue their work in finding loving homes for these needy moggies and doggies!
Knowing that each mile I cover will help to raise much needed funds will certainly help keep me motivated through the long, cold months ahead - through to a well earned rest next summer!
