Dear friend,
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Almost a year after the successful completion of my Kilimanjaro charity project I have decided to conquer Elbrus, the highest mountain in Europe, in order to raise money to purchase cancer treatment equipment for Zhytomyr Children's Hospital in Ukraine.
Every year approximately 40 children are diagnosed with leukemia (type of cancer) in Zhytomyr region. The state support is not sufficient to treat these children. Your kind donations will be used to purchase much needed medical equipment which will help save 20-30 children every year.
Reaching the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in September 2009 was one of the toughest and memorable achievements of my life; but watching Ukrainian orphans receiving medical supplies, as a result of generous donations to my charity project, was one my most joyful ones. With your help I will try to acheve even greater results with my Elbrus charity project.
I will be fully financing my expedition costs and all money raised through your generous donations will go towards helping these poor children overcome this life changing disease.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Sincerely yours,
Konstantin
UPDATE: on the 29th of August after 8 days of climbing and crossing the icefall I reached the summit of Elbrus.

3. Results of my previous successful project
I raised almost £3,000 through this website as a result of my Kilimanjaro project in Sep 2009 . The money was used to buy medical equipment and necessary furniture for two Ukrainian orphanages. www.justgiving.com/konstantin

4. Elbrus expedition
The team consists of my friend Pendar Ostovar, Peter (Swiss), two Russians and myself. We will have a guide and a cook helping us reach the summit at 5,642m (18,510ft) above the see level. The 11 day expedition will take place on the hardest Western route. A map and the details of the expedition including pictures can be found on http://www.alpindustria-team.ru/region_6_programm_395_1_1.html
This expedition is expected to be very difficult due to:
- exposure to extreme altitudes with thin air, low pressure and temperature as low as -15C
- sleeping in tents on snow and melting it to get drinking and cooking water
- trecking for 5-15 hours a day on snow and ice, carrying 15-20 kg expedition loads (no porters this time)
In order to prepare for this challenge I have started my trainig sessions which include running for an hour every other morning before work, trekking in the UK and building the uper body strength.
