We are a group of friends and colleagues who are taking on a challenge to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust Unit at Addenbrookes Hospital. We are:
Ian Clegg Paul Finch
Matt French Tom Garrard
Wayne Hill Andy Howe
Lee Jones Nick Murray
Nick Mussett Chris Taylor
Alastair Woodcock
In July 2013, Nick's son Matt, after 11 years of good health following the removal of a childhood tumour, was diagnosed with a rare tumour in the pelvis. He was admitted to the Teenage Cancer Trust ward at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge where after a series of exhaustive tests he began a course of chemotherapy. The treatment he has received has been amazing but without the funding provided by the Trust none of it would have been possible. The mission of the Teenage Cancer Trust is to raise funds, educate and support teenagers fighting cancer.
We are embarking on a mission to raise as much money as possible for the Trust by completing a self-supported bike ride starting at the Olympic Stadium, East London and finishing at the Stade de France, North Paris from 23rd to the 26th July 2014.
The route will start at the Olympic Park and meander through Southern England to Dover. We plan to take the ferry from Dover to Calais then transfer by bus to Dieppe. From here day 2 will take us to the pretty town of Beauvais. Day 3 takes us from our overnight stop to Paris where our adventure ends.
We are passionate about our goal and hope to raise in excess of £10,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust so that they can continue to care and support teenagers through their treatment, and help them to live their lives as normally as possible.
