Lands End to John O’Groats – 983 miles in 9 days
Tim Knockton, Tim Green, Mathew Browne, Phil Anderson and Nick Briggs will be cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats in memory of Alex Horner.
Alex was a dear friend to many including Newcastle Uni 1999/2000 alumini, her Richmond Hockey club, a mass of friends she gathered whilst travelling and working in Australia and especially the Caymen Islands (where Nick has established an annual Alex Horner memorial Cricket match), her Coutts colleagues, and many more. Alex suffered from Asthma but she never let this get in the way of her sport, socialising with her extensive network of friends and generally getting 120% out of life.
So Alex is the reason we are putting ourselves through the 983 mile ride in 9 days (20th – 28th August 2012). The team are funding the trip themselves so all money raised will go to the charity Asthma UK, so please dig deep.
Ernst & Young will generously match our funding (up to £1000) so what ever you give will likely double in value by the time it reaches Asthma UK.
In addition to the core team we have one or two support riders to set a pace and keep us motivated, and the white van drivers / support crew will be some of our parents.
