My Name is Holly Shaw, I am 22 years old and I am a North West Advocate for the National Charity Live Life Then Give Life.
In October 2008 I received a Kidney transplant after spending over 3 and a half years on dialysis. Live Life Then Give Life supported me whilst I was waiting for my transplant and so I want to repay the favour by completing a challenge to raise money for them.
I and my team (see team list below) will be completing a 100ft abseil down Leasowe Lighthouse on 7th November 2009, bearing in mind that I
used to feel nauseous all the time, could hardly walk any distance
without being tired and often had dizzy spells, this will be a HUGE
challenge for me. Other participants taking part have also been effected by organ donation, they may be recipients, donor families or have sadly lost someone they love because their transplant didn't come in time. Members of Ethan Collins' family will also be taking part, he lost his fight for life after post transplant complications and so they are doing this in memory of him.
Live Life Then Give Life do a fantastic job in aiming to save and improve the lives of all those in need or receipt of organ and tissue transplants. The charity exists to improve education and awareness of organ donation and to fund projects that increase the numbers of successful transplants in the UK. I and them are very grateful for every donation received and I know first hand that they will put all money raised to good use.
