The Earlybird Diabetes Trust is based in Plymouth where I live. My son Matthew has been a participant since the study began.

I will be doing the 6 Moor Miles - Yelverton race on Sun 26 July 2009, 10.30am. This will be the second race I have entered. I did a run for Sports Aid 1988. I only started running about 8 weeks ago and I am really enjoying it. You will often see me running around Burrator and other various places around Plymouth. I am looking forward to this new challenge. I have lost a lot of weight recently and I am nearly back to my peak fitness.

The Evening Herald will be printing a press release I sent them to promote this charity and also about the run. The Evening Herald visited Derriford Hospital on Thurs 23 July to take photos.

I am supporting this charity as my dad has got type 2 diabetes and I was close to getting it myself. I believe that the study will find out a lot of valuable information as to what the causes are, etc.

I completed 6 Moor Miles in 1:14:18. The weather was not very nice on the day but it kept cool during the race. I found it hard on the hills but kept motivated with my music. The Herald has printed an article about the trust and mentioned the race I did.

All donations will be gratefully received.
