My story

For those of you who have followed Martin's journey on facebook you may be aware that we wish to raise some money for the Intensive Care Unit at the Royal United Hospital as a small way of saying thank you for the excellent care they have provided for Martin.

Martin was admitted to the ICU at RUH in Bath on Thursday 26th Jan 2012.  He had a severe case of an condition called Guillian Barre Syndrome that left him paralysed from head to toe and unable to breath for himself.  He is now making a good recovery.

The staff on the ICU have been fantastic and we feel have played a major part in Martin's recovery.

To say thank you we would like to raise £900 to buy the unit a Electronic Larynx, a piece of equipment that the unit does not currently own but was on loan to Martin from the Speech Therapy Department and allowed him to communicate with us.  This piece of equipment played an important part in helping Martin cope with his situation by being able to talk to us about how he was feeling and mentally was an huge step forward in his recovery process.

Martin's friends are holding a charity concert on 29th March 2012 at Broadlands School, Keynsham to raise money to give to the ICU to purchase an electronic larynx.  However, if you are unable to attend this concert but would like to donate to the fund, then this is why I have set up this page in partnership with the Forever Friends Charity arm of the RUH.  Who assure me that any money donated will be given to the ICU.
