Temwa

Temwa is an organisation that raises funds to implement community-based projects in Malawi, southern Africa. Temwa is based in an area called Usisya, on the north shore of Lake Malawi. This remote area has no electricity, no running water and is severely affected by the AIDS epidemic. Due to poor road and telecommunications infrastructure, public services and other relief efforts are very limited. Overseen by a project Manager in Malawi, Temwa runs a series of programmes that are aimed at proving sustainable, community-driven development in four key areas: Health education, Skills development, Agriculture and irrigation and Schools support. In the future Temwa plans to establish similar schemes in other parts of Malawi.

My story

06.09.09- WE'VE DONE IT! We've nearly raised a grand so we're making one last plea- help us make a nice round number! Thankyou so much to everyone who's already given us support x

We are running (!) Bristol Half Marathon in THREE WEEKS!!! for TEMWA. This year is seeing a real crash in people willing to ask others for money, we are all feeling the pinch of the recesion. Take a minute to consider the lives of others in third world countries. They will never experience the kind of wealth and security we have. A £2 donation will leave a small dent in your pocket and make a huge difference to TEMWA and the people they support through their amazing charity. £2 is less than a drink at the pub, please have one less drink this weekend and help TEMWA not to make a loss. At the moment the lack of runners means that the charity may lose money without your help. Myself, Bex, Natalie and Rhian are willing to work hard to try and get ourselves fit enough to run in less than a month, please please support us in our crazy attempt.

£2 is all we are asking, if you can afford more that is brilliant. We've set our target at £500 the first £160 stops TEWMA making a loss.

Temwa's objective is to help build a sustainable future for the people of Malawi through community-based projects. Temwa is working with the people of Malawi, enabling them to become self sufficient and giving them hope for their families' futures.
