Pakistan has been affected by the worst floods in living memory – according to government figures almost 20 million people have been affected and1600 people are dead and millions homeless. There is a desperate need for temporary shelter, clean drinking water and toilets to avert a public health catastrophe. People also need medical care and basic food items. DEC are looking at a sizable aid package that will require a great deal of public support.

Here is what some of DEC's sponsored charities have been doing since the disaster struck this region:

oxfamgb who have helped 200,000 people with clean water, toilets and more

britishredcross helping 130k people thru Red Crescent inc. giving food & water

WorldVisionUK who have provided food, water, shelter or other aid to over 25000 people

Tearfund who have provided food and shelter packs to over 8000 people

MerlinUK who are running 27 health clinics treating 5000 patients a day

IslamicReliefUK who have given household items to 20000 people who lost everything

Concern who have provided clean drinking water to over 12000 people

christian_aid who are providing 2500 tents to people driven from their homes

careintuk who have sent 20 truck loads of supplies

savechildrenuk who are helping over 35000 children and family members in Pakistan, including giving tents

ActionAidUK - running five medical camps caring for all but esp. woman and children

So please dig deep and donate now.
