Hello.
A few months back, for some reason I can't really recall, I decided to enter the Robin Hood Half-Marathon. It may have been the wine. It may have seemed like a good excuse to stay off that wine for a few weeks. Either way, I got one of those race numbers and a fancy plastic tag that you wear when you run it so I guess there's no turning back now.
In return for whatever you sponsor, I intend to complete the 13-mile course. I can't promise I'll do it with any great finesse or style or in record-breaking time but I do promise I'll at least try my best. Plus running is a good excuse to get through some good records on my headphones without people bothering you. Which is always a nice way to spend a Sunday morning, isn't it?
All money raised will go to The Friends of the Nightingale Macmillan Unit. Based at the new super-duper City Hospital, the organisation does a lot of work caring for people with cancer. That description possibly does them no justice whatsoever so feel free to visit their website to find out more: http://www.friendsofthenightingale.org.uk
Any amount will do. Seriously, even a quid would be nice. I do realise there's a recession at the moment.
Anyhoo, thanks for listening.
