Hi Everyone,
 
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Once again I'm asking for your generosity to donate money for building materials for the house building trip to Cambodia I will be doing at the end of November. This year Kate and Iain are joining me for the first time.
The Tabitha Foundation has worked with over 500,000 Cambodian people in the poorest communities since it was formed in 1994. Tabitha's philosophy of self-help is designed to promote self sufficiency and dignity through savings, counselling and goal-setting programmes. The house-building recipients are typically families who have been participating in Tabitha's programmes for several years and have saved enough money to be able to buy a small piece of land and some of the matierials. The cost of the rest of the buidling materials is raised by us, the volunteers who also provide the free labour.
Last year we travelled further out of Phnom Penh than we previously had and just 20 of us managed to complete 20 houses in less than 2 days. The task seemed daunting as we set out early to reach the village but the sense of accomplishment and the joy on the faces of the families moving in made everything worthwhile. Attached are a few photos from last year.
This year our goal is a more modest 10 houses with any extra money raised being used to provide wells which can be used by all the village residents. Each house costs US$500 in building materials so with your help we can make a huge difference to peoples lives.
