We We create opportunities to improve the lives of local people

Story

Lester has volunteered for the Blackfriars Settlement for 7 years and specifically the befriending service offered to older people. The older people range from those who are in need of some help with doing the shopping to some that just appreciate a friendly face and a cup of tea. Some of the older people no longer have family or friends nearby and the only people they see every week are the volunteers. These services are crucial to helping older people who are on their own or who find it difficult to get about.

Can you help us out and make a difference?

The Blackfriars Settlement provides a big range of services available to all, with many coming from far and wide to use their services, not just the local community. The main aim is to connect people by offering services to the young and older users thus improve lives and make our communities better places to live and work. Your donation will help to:

provide access to those that need computer skills for digital inclusion;

open a free osteopathy clinic for the over 60’s;

a music group for young people;

provide arts and crafts groups.

Services are also provided for people with mental health difficulties and for children & young people of all ages. They seek to provide support through a community development programme, outreach services, a free legal advice clinic and access to affordable community space.
