Story

Hi, everyone!

The race was yesterday, I've uploaded two pictures. Hope you can see them.

I've been running like a maniac round the park, round the farm, round the block, on pavements, when I got tired of it I ran hoovers over carpets, ran a temperature, ran away from the Law, ran my eyes over The Times, ran for president of my respectable community of snails, but in the short run, I've been training for my heart attack on Sunday, as someone put it. I've trained, I'm now rough and ready! (for my premature death). But, despite this witty introduction concocted in the middle of the night in the hope of raising more, in the long run it's really up to YOU.

My run for GOSH will be on the 6th, in Hyde Park. I am running to raise money for the hospital where my daughter had two major operations. She's to have another one soon, though a minor one.

I'm not quite sure I understand or agree with this UK way of raising money for charity, (actually this has no importance) but I come, to each of you, and hold OUT my hand: Give! Give money for a children's hospital!

The most important thing that I'd like to say about Great Ormond Street Hospital For Children is: I remember the evening when I first set foot in it. I was holding my baby in my arms and I had NO hope for her survival, no hope for a future. No matter how hard I tried, I could not imagine her putting on weight, growing, living a normal life. I felt broken. We were all scared, destroyed, terrified. Cata was wasting away, very fast, in front of our eyes.

Few weeks later, after a major operation, Catalina's heart was fixed. We left the hospital with her being able to eat, to smile...she had rosy cheeks! And we felt whole again. She was alive. I can't think of a more amazing gift. The hospital gave us the gift: our baby's life.  It's a great institution. So I'm doing my bit.

Will you help and do your bit, too?

Give.

Thank you!

Lia
