My jump will be a tribute to Sally Stapleton-Jones, who died unexpectedly on 12 April this year. Sally spent many years working with people with drug problems, in many different organisations, both in this country and in New Zealand, where she lived most recently. She worked at EDP between 2003 and 2006 and did some great work to support families affected by drug and alcohol problems. I met Sally, as she was a friend of my Mum’s, and I know she liked adventure.
When we asked Sally’s husband, Ken, about doing the skydive in her memory – he said this: ‘I think Liam’s idea of doing a skydive as a tribute to Sally is absolutely wonderful. Especially as Sally enjoyed the skydive we did the day after getting married in New Zealand . So, it’s an especially fitting tribute, and Sally would have thoroughly approved and been both touched and delighted at the gesture, and of course for the cause...... It’s especially nice that Liam’s doing the skydive on his 16th birthday. It’s funny, but Sally was trying to work out the other day how old Liam is now and thought (with a bit of shock!) that it must be 16’.
I hope you will sponsor me.
Liam.
