Hello, thank you for taking the time to find my page!
My name is Lianne Harvey and I am nineteen years of age.
I have just been offered a place to train for my BA in Acting at RADA (The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art). This is something i have been working towards and have dreamed of for quite some time! At around the age of fifteen, when i was at school, my drama teacher told me i had something special and to look outside my school drama class for teaching. I took this advice and ran with it. I joined several drama youth groups and did as many productions as i could! I left school with an A* in my drama GCSE and the 'Outstanding achievement in Drama' award.
I then went to college to complete my BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts and after two years and a lot of hard work later I, once again, left with the top possible grade (a triple distinction). As well as acting, i also had a passion for singing and gigged around the UK as part of the band Honeywell and was also part of the all female band Ragestar.
At this point i auditioned for drama school but was rejected from every school i applied for- they said i didn't have enough experience. So i made a conscious decision to change this.
I have spent the last year working alongside the BBC, i had an internship with an international theatre company, undergoing professional acting work, creating workshops for schools and colleges and teaching drama to children. I have solidly worked at a theatre and a cinema to help fund my gap year and this years set of auditions.
This year i was accepted into three different drama schools: RADA, LAMDA and Rose bruford. I knew i had to choose RADA! It has the highest amount of applicants of any other drama school (with over 3000 people applying for only 28 places this year) and less than 1% are offered a place. I am very honored to be able to train here for the next three years. To be able to cover my costs i have to raise £11,000 for the year and so far i have raised £8,000. I have taken out the full amount of student loan available to me and am now trying to bridge the gap between the money that my student loan offers and the total cost of living in London. I am also working this summer at a summer camp with children and should raise another £1,000 towards my funds, so i only have another £2,000 to find.
Sponsors for students at RADA recieve student progress reports and donations over £500 recieve credit in all relevant RADA publications and invitations to attend the student productions each term.
Any contributions, whether great or small, would be extremely appreciated :)
Thank you so much for your time.
