We provide support, services and advice to help autistic people and their families

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As some of you may be aware Madison was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in February 2017. As part of this diagnosis we were offered to do an 8 week intensive early bird course to learn all about Autism and how to manage it. The National Autistic Society provide this course free of charge and allowed not only myself and Chris but also a teacher from her school setting to attend and this is my way of giving back.

I am not the fittest person in the world so this will be a real challenge for me that is going to take a lot of determination and motivation to get up to the top of this mountain and I really hope you will support me by donating as little or as much as you can.

Taken from the National Autistic Website - www.autism.org

Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with and relates to other people, and how they experience the world around them.

We are the UK’s leading autism charity. Since we began over 50 years ago, we have been pioneering new ways to support people and understand autism. We continue to learn every day from the children and adults we support in our schools and care services. Based on our experience, and with support from our members, donors and volunteers, we provide life-changing information and advice to millions of autistic people, their families and friends. And we support professionals, politicians and the public to understand autism better so that more autistic people of all ages can be understood, supported and appreciated for who they are.

We rely on vital funds raised by people like you to help provide our Helpline, run our campaigns, support our volunteer-led branches, and provide essential information to people living with autism.

Our Helpline answered 16,000 calls last year and our website had an astounding 4.4 million visits. We campaigned to make it mandatory for all new teachers in England to learn about autism as part of their Initial teacher training. Our Too Much Information campaign has changed the way millions of people think about autism. But our work is only possible with the help of people like you.
