Hey there! Thanks for visiting my page! Oh crikey, what have I let myself in for?!

Thought that running 10k round Edinburgh and dealing with all the weird and wonderful obstacles which will be thrown at me, was the perfect opportunity to raise money for one of my favourite causes.

Buddy, Brewster and Lily all now have a loving home and 'family' after a shaky start to life, but many animals have nothing and that's why the Scottish SPCA exists.

The Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Scottish SPCA) is Scotland's animal welfare charity. They receive no government or lottery funding and rely on public donations to continue their vital work rescuing and rehoming Scotland's abandoned, neglected and defenceless animals.

All of your donations will go straight to the Edinburgh & Lothians Welfare Centre in Balerno to help care for the animals there and their rehoming process.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the welfare centre and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

If you're curious about this decidedly 'different' 10k, sneak a peek at:

http://www.mhsurvival.co.uk/page27.asp - watch the video of the very first event last year. Yikes! :o)

Thanks again for visiting my page and supporting the Scottish SPCA Centre at Balerno! Every penny helps!

Linda x

Hi there!

Update on my Men's Health Survival of the Fittest........... I survived!!!!! Woo hoo!!!! :-D

It was really tough as we were given really 'interesting' and sometimes random obstacles to get over/under/through/up etc. Had only run about 100 yards when we had haybales to scramble over! Next up was the Jacob's Ladder steps up to Carlton Hill where we faced an army-type assault course! Rope swing, A frame with bars, bars which we had to go under then over (all the tumble forward rolls we did outside the huts at primary came in handy as there was no way I could leap over them. So tumbled forward rolled instead.) I needed a boost to get up to the monkey bars and was the entertainment for the guys waiting behind me! Ran on to the Water Slide (tarpaulin down a steep-ish slope with water poured on it before you went down on your bum. and if you were unlucky, *waves* you got water poured on you too!) through a 'Spiderweb' made out of climbing rope between the trees, ran through water being skooshed by 2 firemen's hoses, through 3 old cars from the boot to the front bonnet, completed an 'urban' assault course where we had to jump over bollards, climb another A frame and then 6 flights of stairs up a tenement block- thought my thighs were going to explode. Then had to face a bouncy castle on the Royal Mile with 6 foot high walls, another assault course on King's Stables Rd and then had to run up the paths towards the castle before enjoying the descent back down to Princes St Gardens, the 8ft wall we had to scramble up, on and down before the finish line. Phew!

It was a great atmosphere, really lovely people doing it who were all up for a laugh and had a ball. Managed to do it in 1hr 13mins too which I was delighted at as I've never done a 10k before :-) . Ended up 800th out of 1300 (not last!!!!).

If you want photographic evidence, visit http://www.sleepmonsters.com/photosystem/menshealth/index.php?search_value=760&event_id=7508&page_action=Search
which is just the photos where they could see my number.

Me on the monkey bars (and being laughed at) is near the bottom of

(I'm at the left hand side with 3/4 length navy blue bottoms)

Me scrambling over the wall begins on the 5th last photo on

Then me finishing is the 2nd one on page 35

I'm still bruised and battered , but there are not going to be any photos of them!!!

Thanks to all those who have sent lovely messages and sponsored me! If you still want to, go on go on GO ON!!!!

Love Linda xx
