Easter Day: 3 weeks to go...
Over the last few weeks I've successfully completed half marathons in Wokingham and Reading, and I managed to run 20 miles in Hemel Hempstead last weekend!
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported and sponsored me! Please keep up the good work - I'd love to raise as much money for Oxfam as I can...
February 2010: Training update -
My marathon training is going well. My longest training run so far was last Sunday when I managed to run just over 20km - I was really chuffed (and completely shattered afterwards) – but only 22km more and that’s a marathon! My first half marathon is in Wokingham next weekend (argh!) and I have also signed up for the half marathon at the end of March (argh again!) - Wish me luck!
The marathon is now just over 11 weeks away. In the next few weeks I have A LOT more training to do, and I hope to raise A LOT more money for OXFAM – for the great work they do!
This may seem unbelievable to those who know me, but on the 25th April 2010 I will be running the London Marathon!!!
To understand the scale of this challenge, here are a two important statistics that you should know -
1. The marathon is 26.2 miles long
2. I can currently run for 1 mile without stopping (only 25.2 to go!)
To encourage me in my training schedule, I'd be very grateful if you could -
a. Not laugh if you see me running like a Womble at any point
b. Not overtake me if you can see I'm trying to run (especially if you're walking!)
c. Sponsor me through this JustGiving page to help support Oxfam in the brilliant work that they do
As well as getting fitter, my aim is to raise over £2,000 for Oxfam by completing this race. Please sponsor me if you can - and, if you're free, come and cheer me along on the day!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
