My story

Hello and welcome to our Just Giving Page.

We are raising money for the Lindsay Cheek Endowment Fund, a fund that exists to support nurses in NHS Grampian to meet the costs of specialist training in immunology.

The fund, which is part of the NHS Grampian Endowment Fund, is named in memory of our daughter Lindsay who passed away in August 2010 aged 33.

Lindsay was brought up at our home in Forres and, after discovering a passion for languages, went on to study business with French and German at Robert Gordon University.  She then went on to work for IBM before returning to University to become a qualified language teacher.  Throughout her school, university and working life, Lindsay threw herself into new situations and enjoyed the support of a large and diverse circle of friends.

All of the achievements of Lindsay's life were achieved against a backdrop of serious chronic illness which was diagnosed at the age of three.  Despite the challenges posed by her condition, Lindsay always demonstrated great bravery, dignity and optimism.

Along the way, Lindsay relied on the support and love of her family and friends, and returned it with interest. She also enjoyed the support and expertise of a number of dedicated health care professionals who began by seeing her condition but came, rather quickly, to know and respect the remarkable person she was, and life that she lead.

This JustGiving page will help us to fundraise through a variety of events we hope to hold in celebration of Lindsay's life.  It is also a way for us to give back to a department that provided and continues to provide care support and friendship to patients and their families.

Thank you for your support.

Alison & John Cheek
