Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness across the UK. Our nurses work night and day in people’s homes and our hospices offer specialist care. We also support people emotionally, provide practical information, and match them with trained volunteers.

Story

Time is ticking and with 11days to my first ever London Marathon my feet hurt, my knees ache and the runs feel like they are longer and harder. I've done my last long run, 20 miles, so its time to taper my training and start preparing for race day…. The sponsorship I’ve received so far has been a great inspiration to keep going and knowing so many people are supporting me makes the long runs worth it.

Once I have completed the 26.2 gruelling miles of the marathon I would like to sit back, put my feet up and not do anymore running for a while… however, I have also signed myself up to do Kilimanjaro and a triathlon so the training will continue!

Its all worth it though and if I reach my fundraising target I know I will have made a difference to a fantastic charity. Marie Curie Cancer Care provides free, expert care to terminally ill people in their own homes. The support Marie Curie Nurses provide makes a huge difference, not just to the patient, but to their family. Every £20 I raise will allow Marie Curie to provide one extra hour of nursing care to someone who needs it, so if I reach my first goal of £2,500 by marathon day that will mean I have raised an additional 125 hours of care.

Thank you for all your support and see you on the finish line!

Liz x
