Next week I will be attempting to do something nobody else in Britain has ever done before to raise money for the Spinal Injuries Association - spend 24 hours driving a kart non-stop.
The record attempt is taking place on 11 / 12 August at the Ellough Park Race Circuit, near Beccles.
Previous attempts on the 24 hour record have involved team's of four drivers - and a Portuguese driver holds the current indoor record - but few have been brave enough to go for the solo attempt outdoors before.
When I first heard about the Spinal Injuries Association, I knew I wanted to do something to help increase awareness of the work they do. And also because they're non-government funded, I wanted to raise much needed money for them. I wanted to combine my interests in motor sport to achieve these two goals.
I have been working hard to prepare for the gruelling physical challenge. Driving a modern kart really isn't easy. In fact, it's physically exhausting after just a handful of laps. For my world record attempt, I've had to train harder than at any time before in my life and have enlisted the help of a small army of people to get me through it. Not least, is the 2005 World Kart Champion, Oliver Oakes who has been coaching me on how to drive smoothly, quickly and consistently.
