My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit this page in memory of Logan Harrison Martin, our beautiful grandson.

Logan was born in Dewsbury on the 11th April but the cord had wrapped around his neck, depriving him of oxygen. They worked really hard to bring him back but he was seriously ill and so they transferred him to the Peter Congdon Neonatal Unit at Leeds General Infirmary.

The medical staff were superb, they couldn't have done more for the lad but miracles were not to be. He was too long without oxygen and his brain was damaged and other organs like his kidneys and liver failed as well.

So on the 14th April he passed peacefully away in his parents arms.

Losing a baby is awful for everyone, including the staff, but most of all for the parents and the other relatives. They were so kind and compassionate to us, his grandparents aunts and uncle. They gave us a room with a kitchen area so we could have a drink whilst we were there.

The NHS has limited funds and we understand the relatives room was provided by charitable donations.

We'd like to mark Logan's short life by helping the hospital who tried so hard form him and us. Any donation, no matter how small, is a help.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

My updates 5

Logan's younger brother, Gabriel, arrived safe and sound, if a little earlier than expected on 15th. Bitter sweet - we're delighted Gabriel is here but so wish he could have grown up with a big brother to follow.

Donations have slowed now, but are still very welcome. Thank you to everyone who donated. It's been 5 months now and it still hurts terribly. Life does go on, but the hole in our lives where Logan should be will always be there.

Can hardly believe we've topped £3,000! Thank you everyone. Hopefully we help the hospital support other parents and relatives at a difficult time. I know the importance of their support - even if it's not strictly patient care.

Fantastic response - thank you so much. The funeral was today. Very hard, everyone cried. It's wonderful that he will leave this legacy behind as well as the other gifts he gave us - like love and bringing the family together

I'm amazed and touched by how generous people are. Thank you so much.
