...well, they all suffer(ed) with asthma. And so do I.
So I've decided to run the London Marathon 2010 !
Yep that's right, the whole 26 miles and 385 yards (eek!).
Why you ask? Because as a chronic asthma sufferer, I'm raising money for Asthma UK (rather a lot actually, £1500!)
Asthma UK is a charity committed to supporting and representing asthma sufferers all over the UK.
They also invest a huge amount (over £50 million to date) on researching and understanding more about asthma, its causes and potential treatments.
Asthma is a condition which affects the airways - the small tubes that carry air in and out of the lungs. When an asthma sufferer comes into contact with something that irritates their airways, the muscles around the walls of the airways tighten s that the airways become narrower and the lining of the airways becomes inflamed and starts to swell. This makes it incredibly difficult to breathe and is very distressing and alarming - imagine trying to breathe through a thin straw or a pillow - this feeling is similar to that felt by over 5.4 million people suffering from asthma in the UK.
So please, please support the great work of Asthma UK and DONATE NOW!
