Many thanks to everyone that sponsored me yesterday, both online and offline.
I can hardly walk today but it was all worth it as so far I have managed to raise over £2,100 for Penny Brohn Cancer Care with the possibility of further funds to come.
This was my first full marathon, and despite the fact that I hadn't run for the last 4 weeks things went well for the first 20 miles before hitting the wall full on! The next 3 miles wrecked my chance of a decent time but I did pick things up again and run the final 3.2 miles to the finish crossing the line in 4.51.
The atmosphere was amazing with supporters all around the course cheering us on.
Thanks again for all your support and for your very generous sponsorship. Having spoken with the team at Penny Brohn today they also wanted me to pass on their thanks and to stress that they really are most grateful. There were 7 Penny Brohn runners in this years event and we raised over £14k between us which is great.
Hopefully speak soon,
Best wishes,
Mark.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.
2009 was a difficult year for my family with both mum and also my mother in law undergoing treatment for cancer.
Having completed several 10k's and half marathons over recent years, I've decided that the time has finally come to tackle a full marathon!
I have accepted a place to run the Virgin London Marathon on 25th April 2010 on behalf of Penny Brohn Cancer Care which seemed very appropriate in view of recent events.
This is a Bristol based charity which I am delighted to be able to support. I have set myself a target to raise £1500 in sponsorship and I would very much welcome your support in helping to achieve this.
I must admit that it has always been a challenge to complete the half marathons so it remains to be seen how I get on with the 26 miles! My training is now well underway and with your support and encouragement I am determined to achieve my goal of completing the marathon and raising the £1500, and possibly more, which I know will be well received by the charity.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to Penny Brohn Cancer Care and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Please donate as much as you can and thank you so much for your support.
With best wishes,
Mark.
