Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
In March I will volunteer for 10 weeks on a development programme in Burkina Faso - the second poorest country in the world (United Nations Development Programme 2007-8).
This is part of International Citizen Service (ICS), which brings over 7,000 young people together to fight poverty and make a difference where it is needed most! ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help.
I will be working alongside volunteers from Burkina Faso, with the aim of helping some of their most marginalised people - such as women, disabled people, young people, children and people living with HIV/AIDS. As a regular volunteer with UK located charities for the vulnerable; such as with the Hospice of St Francis and St Giles Trust for Disabled Children, I am keen to travel abroad to places that truly need help and where I can make a lasting, sustainable impact.
ICS also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development.
I need to raise £1500 for International Service who are one of the respected development charities that deliver ICS. This money will allow International Service to continue to bring about positive change in the developing communities where they work.
You can check out their amazing work here - http://www.internationalservice.org.uk/
I have done a Christmas Dinner and Christmas Cake sale in support of International service - and plan on doing a lot more fundraising activities - which you can keep track of here on my Justgiving page!
Any contribution from you will make a real difference to the lives of people in developing countries such as Burkina Faso, so please dig deep!
Thank you so much for your support!
