Let us tell you a little about why we are doing this run and why we want you to give us your money!!!!!
We decided to enter the half marathon for a challenge back in June. We've never done anything like this before and probably never likely to again! We thought - 3 months loads of time to get in shape!!!! So we started training, then life took over, so now we have to hit it hard!
We decided to try and raise as much money as possible whilst we run (no point in all that pain for nothing)! So we have chosen a charity called the CJ Riders Fund.
The fund was set up by Chris Jones's parents (Pam and Clive) and his sister (Lucy) when Chris Jones tragically lost his life in August 2005 during a motorcycle race at in . Chris was only 14 years old; he raced in the 125cc series run within the British Superbike Championship.
As you know, we both own bikes and follow and support the British superbike series, Lorna helps to provide medical cover for the British Superbike series - so see's how vital the fund has been in providing medical equipment and facilities - The CJ Fund raises money to make this sport as safe as possible. Since the fund started it has raised well over £200,000!
The fund so far has purchased a portable dragon X-ray machine that follows the series throughout the season, provides vital medical equipment, pays for radiographers and physiotherapists at each round, provides an air ambulance at tracks that are a long distance from a hospital and recently purchased air fencing, that again is transported to each race meeting and used to provide safe barriers should a rider crash, plus a whole lot more.....
The fund continues to raise money to provide safety equipment and facilities to ensure that everything possible is done to make this sport safe - so riders can continue to participate in the sport they love.
So we ask you..... Please dig deep and donate as much spare cash as you have, trust us - we will feel every single mile of the 13.1 mile course on Sunday 6th September!
Thanks for looking
Lorna and Emma
