Hello all - and thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Believe it or not, on behalf of the Macmillan Cancer Support, this September I'll be representing Hyponik and heading to Tanzania to undertake a 9 day walk up Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro.
Scaling the extinct volcanoe that is Kilimanjaro will take place with the help of Jagged Globe, a renowned outift of mountaineering guides, who'll be ensuring I reach the summit, and making sure I don't have a cardiac arrest/panic attack/disconcerting need to be back talking rubbish in East London in the proccess of doing so!
Starting off on September 17th, in a group of 12 we will first head to Mount Meru for acclimatization. After Meru, we'll head back to camp at Moshi, where we'll prep for our first day on Kilimanjaro, and the following, ascent to the 5,895 peak (19,341 feet above sea level).
We'll follow the seldom used Umbwe Route through changing eco-systems over 3 days, gradually making our way to the formidable Breach wall - a 2000ft vertical precipice. We'll then scramble our way up Western Breach to the crater rim at Uhuru Peak - the highest point in the whole continent.
We'll be holding a fundraising event on the 11th of August at The Nest (more to follow on that), but if you could possibly dig deep to support it would be hugely appreciated. Cancer is a close personal issue to both myself and all at Hyponik, and I'm sure most if not all of you know someone who's been affected by it. We're aiming to raise £3,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support - so every penny counts!
