Story

Lucy, Nidge, Sandy, Paul, Tracy, Will, Mark, Tony & Gareth have decided to test themselves by doing the Tough Mudder 2013 event.

We will be swimming through an abyss of FREEZING cold iced water, running the 'Mud Mile', crawling through muddy tunnels and sliding over layers of ice with electric shocks close overhead, swinging from purposely greased monkey bars, plus many more things just as lovely!!! Finally by being electrocuted with 10,000 volts on 'Electroshock Therapy'!!! All of this over a twelve mile assualt course & run! We will need to conquer 18 fiendish obstacles, overcoming, electricity, ice, heights and over everything else, mud!

Now I am sure as you can imagine this has taken some dedicated training and hard work but it is all in aid of Hope4Mae so we are going to ask for all the support we can get. Knowing it is for a good local cause is going to get us through this so please be generous!

Mae :-) Mae Louisa Lilly Fox was born on 10th May 2009 in Doncaster.  Unfortunately, there were complications during her birth and Mae suffered some injury to her brain and she was later diagnosed as having Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy; which causes physical disability in human development, chiefly in the various areas of body movement.  Mae has made fantastic progress and persists to amaze those close to with her positive attitude & determination. She tries so hard to work against her condition but, unfortunately, no matter how hard she tries she cannot stand or walk independently.

Now There Is Hope: Mae has been accepted for a life changing operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy at St Louis children’s hospital Missouri by Dr T s Park who has been doing this specialised procedure for more than 25 years and has operated on more than 2,000 children from 43 countries. Dr Park holds a 100% success rate. The surgery will permanently reduce Mae's abnormal muscle tone. Her sitting and standing postures will also improve. As will her balance, endurance and levels of comfort. For all these reasons Mae would be a very good candidate and the operation will help her significantly.

Fundraising Targets: To help Mae bring her dreams to reality we need to raise £70,000.  At the time of writing (Sept) just over £40k has been raised for Mae so far - see her main fundraising page http://www.justgiving.com/hope4mae. We hope to raise a further £200 for Mae through the Tough Mudder Event.  This is a fantastic cause, so please donate - every little will make the biggest difference to Mae!!
