Thanks for taking the time to visit my page. I'm thrilled that I've beaten my initial target of £1000, and still with 3 weeks to go before the big run! So I've increased my target, hoping to raise that bit more. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me so far, it really does mean so much to me and I know it will mean a great deal to Willen Hospice - I can't wait to hand it over to them! But first, I have a little run to do...!
I have felt for the last 5 months that all I've been doing is running or talking or thinking about running! I completed the MK half marathon on March 7th, finishing in 2:27, then the following week I completed the Silverstone half marathon in 2:31. I was happy with my times although I'd hoped to beat my MK time at Silverstone, rather than be a bit slower! I put it down to the howling winds that day though!I'm busy training 5 days a week, putting my body through various speeds and techniques to build up my endurance, strength and stamina. My long runs on Sundays are reaching their peak - last week I completed 18.63 miles and tomorrow I am aiming for my longest run so far - 20 miles. I will then taper down to prepare my body for the big race. One thing I'm enjoying is all the yummy carbohydrates I need to eat to keep myself going - I'll miss that when it's all over! I'm finding the training difficult and some days I'm more enthusiastic than others but I'm happy with everything I've achieved so far and I'm really looking forward to it - it starting to feel very real now!! 03/04/10

On April 25 2010 I will be joining approximately 24,000 other people to run the London Marathon – 26 miles and 385 yards. I am hoping to raise as much money as I can for Willen Hospice.Willen Hospice is a registered charity that provides specialist care for people whose illness no longer responds to curative treatment. Willen Hospice currently has annual running costs of £3.6 million of which they have to raise around £2.2 million from charitable donations and fundraising events. Now, more than ever before, they need our financial support.
As some of you will know, my Grampy Fred was cared for at Willen Hospice in his last few months in 2008. The wonderful care and help that they provided to Grampy and to us, his family, was beyond anything we could have hoped for. In the tranquil setting and with such dedicated and caring staff it was comforting to know that Grampy was so well taken care of. Please help me to support this special cause.
