My story
So, after running the Cardiff 10k in September, I'm in need of a new challenge, and I want to raise some money for a wonderful charity called Mothers of Africa.
On the 7th October I'm going to be running the Men's Health Survival of the Fittest ( http://www.mhsurvival.co.uk/cardiff.html ). This is a 10km challenge run including over 50 obstacles (and who doesn't love the idea of me trying to climb over hay bales...), through the streets of Cardiff.
Then, the big one: on the 17th November I'm doing the North West Tough Mudder ( http://toughmudder.co.uk ). This is a 12 mile run designed by the special forces, where I can expect everything from swamps, to fire, to electric shocks. Seriously. Electric shocks after a 12 mile run.
Now, the charity: Mothers of Africa is very close to my heart - it's a Wales-based charity which sends doctors out to Ethiopia, Liberia, Benin and Togo to train and educate the doctors at the front line of maternal care. This is so important, because in Africa a woman's risk of dying from treatable or preventable complications of pregnancy and childbirth over her lifetime are 1 in 6 (in developed regions, this stat is 1 in 7,300). People die of readily treatable illnesses and conditions, partly because the doctors are not properly equipped or trained to cope. This is what Mothers of Africa is trying to change.
Any donation, no matter how big or small, will be so very much appreciated. I promise to keep you all updated with my training, results, and what the charity are planning to do with your money!
Dig deep guys, I'm going to have to!

*it was listed as anonymous before, so Haitem Maghur, thank you. You've made my day!
TARGET MET! To that anonymous person who donated the final £30, thank you SO much!! Thank you thank you thank you everyone. Now just have to get this race done!
I just wanted to say, thank you SO much to everyone who has donated so far. When it's all over on Saturday (maybe Sunday...) I will be sending a personal email out to anyone who's donated. I really cannot say how much I appreciate it.
AAAHHH TOUGH MUDDER IN LESS THAN A WEEK. SUDDENLY VERY SCARED.
Survival of the Fittest was 12km, completed in 1:34:34. Absolutely loved it - the atmosphere was fantastic and although it was hard work I've been left feeling really positive about Tough Mudder... 6 weeks to go!
