Hello all,
I am hoping to raise as much money as possible for the air ambulance. The air ambulance is a great charity that undertake over 19000 missions a year with the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance serving in excess of 1.4million people. This great charity recieves only help from the likes of you and I and we are who they serve so i think it is we who have to go out of our way to help them out.
This is a belated fundraising page as the actual race happened last saturday night. The race is called the Dusk till Dawn race which as the name suggests starts at 8pm till 8am through 9.8miles of Thetford Forest. We completed this as a relay race with my team being a team of 3 women and the 2 other teams from Hawthorns being two groups of 4 blokes. This race is a challenge for experienced riders so for us amateurs it was a test of our strength, durability and fitness (or lack of). Along with large areas of sand (Ever cycled on a beach?) and bomb holes, there were tree roots and stumps that were a threat in daylight no matter in the dark.
I would like at this point to say thankyou to Exposure lights who provided us with some amazing lights that made it that tiny bit easier.
Also would like to thank and congratulate everyone who did the event, a thankyou goes to those who supported and helped us novices along the way and to those who just said thankyou when we let you pass us. And a huge congratulations to those that must have put a lot of time and effort into training!
