Lyn Howell - running for LATCH
I recently ran the 2010 London Marathon in support of the Welsh Children's Charity LATCH, now based in the Wales Children's Hospital at the Heath, Cardiff. I ran in memory of my daughter Bethan who lost her battle against Leukaemia in 1989 aged 4. LATCH provided fantastic support for us as a family during Bethan's illness and their work in supporting research into cancer and Leukaemia is continuing.
I originally just wanted to complete th course but had hoped to get below five hours. Unfortunately I hit the wall at about 18 miles and then about five more walls - in the end I was just pleased to finish. A brilliant day and a really emotional one for me - I think Bethan was with me most of the way - particularly when all I wanted to do was to stop.
Please take time to look at the video of Bethan's story , it will explain better than any of my words why I ran.
