Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Eight years ago, at the age of 34, I was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL). The doctors were puzzled because the average age of a CLL patient is 65, with no cure yet the average life span is 10 yrs.

Whilst I'm still well, I'd like to do something worthwhile and have an adventure at the same time, and that is why I have signed up to do a 2 week trek through the Peruvian mountains andjungle in April 2010.

As I am a current patient of the haematology department a Southampton General Hospital, I am seeking sponsorship to support their Red & White Appeal. The charity have secured £5m from the government for a transplant Unit but need another £2million to fund a specially designed new daycase unit, which among other things will improve the quality of the facilities and enable a calm and supportive environment for those about to go through bone marrow transplants.

Patients from Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Whiltshire, Dorset, West Sussex and the Channel Islands will be able to attend the unit.  For more details see www.suht.nhs.uk/AboutTheTrust/Charity/TheRedWhiteAppeal.aspx

Those of you that know me will realise that trekking up to 8hrs a day with no loo will be a huge challenge for me and totally out of my comfort zone

So please dig deep and donate now - I'm sure you'll agree that it's a very worthy cause, and one that is very dear to my heart.  Even if they don't find a cure for me, it might in the future help lead to a cure for others.
