Just an update- At 0220 hours on Friday 25th September my team and I left Dover. I was first in and had 3 hours in total in the water. We eventually reached France at 1720 hours so managed to complete the swim in 15 hours which is not bad considering 2 of our swimmers do breaststroke. Had a great day for the swim and had no problems with jellyfish or other nasty things  but we managed to see some seals and dolphins.

Once we were over we all went onto the French beach for some photos, meanwhile our boat was being pushed into the beach and got stuck on a sandbank. We spent the following 12 hours on the boat waiting for the tide to come in again but eventually got back to Dover harbour about 0600 hours on Saturday. What a very long day it was but I'm sure we would all do it again.

I swim with Ye Amphibious Ancients Bathing Association which is Scotlands only open water swimming club. This year is the clubs 125th anniversary and to celebrate this a group of us are in training to carry out a relay swim of the English Channel.

We train in the River Tay between April and September every year and also have organised swims at Loch Earn. I'm quite sure the temperature in the Channel will be a treat to us compared to the Tay!!

The length of the swim is 21 miles at the shortest points although it will no doubt end up much longer than this while we negotiate the tidal conditions, and the big ships!

We have no time in mind for completing it, we just really want to complete it, and get to the other side in one piece, with no jellyfish attached.

I have decided to raise money for Enable Scotland.

ENABLE Scotland is a dynamic charity run by its members . They campaign for a better life for children and adults with learning disabilities and support them and their families to live, work and take part in their communities.

ENABLE Scotland was set up in 1954 by 5 parents who wanted better services and support for themselves and their children with learning disabilities. Until 1993, the organisation was known as the Scottish Society for the Mentally Handicapped.
Today, ENABLE Scotland has grown into a strong organisation with a voluntary membership of over 4000 people. They still campaign and lobby for improvement to the lives of children and adults with learning disabilities and their families as well as running a growing range of direct services that enable people to live the lives they want.

Please help me raise as much as possible Enable Scotland.
