We are doing a walk around the isle of Cumbrae on Saturday 17th May to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. This walk is 10 miles, which is just over 16km. We would love all of your support!

Why Muscular Dystrophy?

Imagine for a minute, not being able to tie your laces, use a tin opener or even make a fist.

In January 2011, my Dad was diagnosed with Inclusion Body Myositis. A muscle disease, which causes muscles to become thin and weak. His condition has deteriorated, resulting in reduced mobility and strength in his limbs.

Before this condition, my Dad was a fit, healthy man, who was able to do anything he wanted. Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM) has made daily life, a struggle. Things that you may do without a second thought, are becoming increasingly more difficult, and sometimes, impossible.

My Dad, is now mostly in a wheelchair and when he is not he needs to use crutches to give him added support. He is unable to climb stairs and needs weekly physiotherapy.

That’s why this year, I have aimed to raise funds for The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. It is so important for people with Muscular Dystrophy conditions to be able to lead a normal life.
