My story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
The "lunchtime legends and friends" relay team succesfully swam the distance of the English Channel, 21 miles on Tuesday 6th March. In fact, because everyone really give it their all, we managed to cross the channel in 9.5 hours! The relay team continued swimming and actually swam 28 miles in the allotted time. Some swimmers were accompanied by other relay members on their legs, so the actual distance swam was 36 miles! The event was held at Queens University PEC swimming pool. Here are the stats:
Time for Channel Swim = 9 hours 30 minutes
Total Relay Swim Distance = 28.03 miles
Total Distance Swam = 36.25 miles
We just want to offer a big THANK YOU you to everyone that has donated so far and helped make the event such a success. This website will be open for a couple of months to allow all donations to come in.
We set ourselves this challenge to raise money to help purchase and MRI scanner for the regional Children's Hospital in Northern Ireland.
The Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children is the only children's hospital in the UK without an MRI Scanner.
Without a dedicated children’s MRI Scanner, many children in Northern Ireland who would benefit from an MRI Scan are unable to have one. Instead, these children undergo different types of investigation that can be invasive or involve radiation, and may even have to travel outside of Northern Ireland for a scan.
We need your help to raise £2,000,000 to buy a MRI scanner for the childrens hospital and ensure that all sick children in Northern Ireland receive the best and safest treatment available.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
