Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Over 5 years ago, whilst I was 6 months pregnant with my first child, my husband and I were in the unimaginable position of having been given a diagnosis of a serious heart abnormality in our baby. Fortunately for us, the hospital who were looking after me knew about ARC, and ARC’s fantastic support got me through the worst few weeks of my life following the termination of my pregnancy and the terrible grief that followed.
I have since had a healthy child who is now 5 years old – our miracle. ARC were also there supporting me through this very anxious pregnancy and the antenatal testing process.
Since this awful time in 2004, I have been wanting to do something positive in memory of my baby, Jimmy, to give hope to others who maybe in the early stages of going through their own awful time and to give something back to such a wonderful charity – ARC.
To mark the 6 anniversary on 1 April 2010, I intend (with support from my brother, other family members and friends) to start (and finish!) the 60 mile walk (10 miles for each year) along the Solent Way – a coastal path from Milford on Sea to Emsworth Harbour in Hampshire over a 3 day period.
Each year 35,000 expectant mothers are informed that there is a risk that their unborn baby may have an abnormality. ARC offers support to bereaved parents and their families when their baby dies and works with health and social care professionals to improve the quality of services provided.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
I have never taken on anything like this before in my life and this will be a massive personal challenge but one that I am determined to achieve in memory of Jimmy and raise as much money as possible for ARC.
So please dig deep and donate now. Thank you. Madeline
