Believe it or not (!*!) I am celebrating my 50th birthday in December and I'm actually going to have a birthday party after avoiding them for years.
One of the big things that puts me off having my own party, apart from the obvious, is the thought that everybody feels obliged to buy you a present, so this is my solution.
You are therefore absolutely forbidden from buying me anything but are encouraged to make a donation to my chosen charity, Quarriers, Scotland.
Quarriers is one of those charities that has been around for so long they often get overlooked for more current and glamorous organisations, and I'd actually forgotten they existed until they approached my boys (White Ace of course lol) to take part in a charity gig earlier this year. I was very impressed with the hard work and dedication of their event organisers and they made it an easy decision for me to choose them. You can see for yourself the very wide range of help and support they provide on their website www.quarriers.org.uk.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please donate, every little helps. And please, please remember that this is my birthday present. If you turn up at the party with a pressie you might not get in!
