My story

WE DID IT!!!!!!!!

On the 4th of October, we ran the Loch Ness Marathon, both well inside our target times.

Audrey, aiming for 5 and a half hours, completed the gruelling, undulating (but incredibly scenic!) route in 5 hours and 7 minutes while Malcolm ran fast early (and not so fast through the latter part of the race) to finish in a time of 3 hours and 41 minutes, well under his 4 hour target time.

For both it was an emotional experience, and both were fortunate to finish with limited injuries - just a little stiffness.  All in all, a great experience.  Thanks so much for sponsoring us so far.  If you haven't yet, you can still do so - the page will be open for a few weeks yet.  MS Society Scotland is a hugely worthy cause, anything you can afford will help them continue their great work.  Thanks so much.

11/08/09 UPDATE Only four weeks of fundraising has yielded our revised target of £1,000!!!!  You guys are awesome!!!! Thanks so much for your support.  You can't begin to imagine how much we appreciate it!

We're not going to increase the target again but please, if you are considering sponsoring us, don't let that stop you!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

24/07/09 UPDATE: The page has been live for just over a week and already our friends have exceeded our modest target of raising £500.  You guys are awesome!  Thanks so much for the support - we really appreciate it, and so does the MS Society.

But we were thinking, with 10 weeks still to go until we undertake this huge challenge, why not try to raise more money?  So we've upped our target to £1,000 in the hope that those of you who haven't yet sponsored us can help us meet this increased target.  If you have already sponsored us, thanks so much.  Your donation means so much and until you have trained for marathon, you have no idea how much that support spurs you on to train harder.  If you haven't yet, please consider it.  A couple of quid or a fiver could make all the difference!  Thanks so much... M&A.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Malc has wanted to run a marathon since he was wee.  Audrey was press-ganged, bullied, harrassed and coerced into joining him.  With twelve weeks hard graft ahead of them, both entered the Loch Ness marathon.  Training will be hard - and it should be - but hopefully we'll have a lot of fun along the way too.

We're running to raise money for MS Society Scotland.  MS is a disabling neurological condition which affects young adults and in Scotland there are approximately 10,500 people with the disease - the highest proportion of a population anywhere in the world.

Over the next 12 weeks we'll run over 370 miles training before the 26.2 miles in the marathon to raise a wee bit of cash to help the MS Society fund research into MS, run a holiday respite centre, provide education and training for those with MS and their carers and lots more besides.

If you could find your way to helping us out in reaching our target - a couple of pounds, a fiver, more if you can - we'd very much appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,
Malc & Audrey
