My story

The Jubilee Sailing Trust is sending their tall ship TS LORD NELSON around the world on an adventure that most of the crew could normally only dream about. For disabled people, getting around town is hard enough, but the facing and beating the challenge of being at sea for a number of days, and taking an active role in setting the sails, steering and even climbing the masts is a fantastic opportunity.

Over the past few years, I've been a little involved with raising money for Help for Heroes, Combat Stress and other military charities (and we're holding the annual shoot again this year on 28 June). This has opened my eyes to the challenges that our injured servicemen and women face when they return home. The environment that the Jubilee Sailing Trust create on their tall ships, treating able and disabled people equally, all part of the crew, will allow a recovering soldier or marine to face their new challenge through a different lens and hopefully give them something to draw upon in the future.

This ride aims to raise enough money to send one of our injured servicemen on one of the legs of this adventure.

It's £15 for every one of the 290 miles that we're riding. Please help in any way you can.

Thanks - Malcolm

About Jubilee Sailing Trust...

Jubilee Sailing Trust is a registered charity that owns and operates Lord Nelson and Tenacious. These are the only two tall ships in the world designed and built to enable people of all physical abilities to sail side-by-side as equals.

Tall ship sailing with the JST provides everyone the thrill and adventure of life at sea and you can be involved in almost every activity on board. Take the helm, set the sails and keep watch, all regardless of your physical ability and previous sailing knowledge.

We have seen time and time again, the benefits to both able-bodied and disabled people who have sailed on the LORD NELSON and TENACIOUS. Any help you are able to give will enable us to continue to make a difference, not just on our ships but in the homes, workplaces and communities of all our voyage crew. So many of the lessons learnt on our ships.
