Just to set the record straight – this is NOT Matthew pestering you yet again for sponsorship for just another run…., but instead this is Malin and I will be running the very first marathon of my life on the 1 November! Not only will this be the first marathon of my life, but I have also decided to run the biggest and arguably greatest one of them of all; .

This will be the biggest challenge of my life since the children came along. My dear Canadian friend Patti is training with me and we aim to cross the finish line together around lunchtime on the day. We are not sure if we are more nervous than excited, but running the final stage of the race, as we cross back into from the Bronx and then turning the final corner at the bottom of , will be a dream come true!

Fairbridge (http://www.fairbridge.org.uk/) is run by Andrew Purvis, a very good friend of ours, and who is also our son Felix's godfather. Each year Fairbridge works with around 3,700 young people aged 13-25 that other organisations find difficult to engage – giving them the self-confidence and skills they need to change their lives. The young people often face multiple issues, ranging from school exclusion and homelessness to anti-social behaviour, crime and substance misuse. They often lack family support and exist on the margins of society.

Donating through Justgiving is just a few mouse clicks away and is totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Fairbridge gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

I would be enormously grateful if you would sponsor me. The cause is a great one and I promise to give it my all!
