The Mall Cares initiative has been set up to provide a focus for the Mall’s charitable activities, and acts as a national umbrella for fund and awareness raising events. It is our commitment to support good causes and enhance the local communities where our Malls operate.

Through Mall Cares we will endeavour to support worthwhile organisations that have a real connection to their – and our shopper’s – communities, offering them opportunities to benefit from Mall events and promotions and to maximise the potential of their own.

During 2009 The Mall Gloucester aim to raise £10k for Gloucestershire MS Information and Therapy Centre.

About Our Charity

The Gloucestershire MS Information & Therapy Centre was set up 20 years ago by a small group of people to help those in the County with Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological illnesses. At that time there were no treatments available for MS under the NHS, and to this day there is no known cure.

The Gloucestershire MS Centre provides a range of therapies, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, aromatherapy and massage, reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Reiki, seated acupressure and chiropody, all at subsidised rates.

The centre operates as both an information centre for MS and as a drop-in centre providing friendship, support and a social outlet for people who might otherwise not get out and about. Anyone is welcome to visit, the coffee pot is always ready!

The Challenge!

To cycle from The Mall Southampton to The Mall Aberdeen, (the furthest south and north Malls in the portfolio) over a period of a week.

So how will we do it?

This is a total of 560 miles to be competed over 6 days. 3 bikes mounted onto Turbo Trainers will be positioned in the Mall. Marketing Manager, will complete the majority of miles with retailers scheduling time to contribute as well as Mall Staff and Shoppers being able to add to the total mileage achieved in any one day.
