Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So, few months ago, I came across a picture published by National Geographic in which a bird wrapped itself in a plastic. That plastic was the waste created by us - the humans and since then, I am unable to shake that image off from my memory.

From millions of tonnes of plastic in our oceans to killing of animals. From the smog covered skies in India to impacts of climate change across the World, We are making this planet suffer. We are also making our future generations suffer. Reports say that If We don’t act now and do something about the plastic pollution, by 2050 there will be more plastic in sea than fish.

For our personal gains, We often forget that We share this beautiful planet with other non human living beings and We have no right in any capacity to take their natural habitat from them.

- Over 80% of freshwater species and 50% of land species have declined over the last 30 years
- We’ve lost 1.3 million km2 of forests since 1990—an area larger than South Africa.
- An enormous amount of plastics has been dumped in the world’s seas with estimates of 46,000 pieces of plastic per square mile.
- 1.1 billion people lack access to water and 2.4 billion don’t have adequate sanitation.
- Today, 7.3 billion people consume 1.6 times what the earth’s natural resources can supply.

It all might sound bookish but We need to act. Now.

I am going to do my part and you can support me. I have chosen to raise funds for World Wildlife Fund (WWF) because I appreciate the work they are doing for our planet.

WWF is world’s leading independent conversation organisation. They are determined to ensure that people and nature can thrive together, for generations to come.

So, What am I going to do?

I am mixing things up because I like variety. I am doing a personal challenge. If you are not impressed enough with my personal challenge, my birthday is also coming in a month's time. So, all those people who always wanted to gift me something but were confused because 'I might not like the gift', this is "that" chance for you ;). This year, I am accepting donations for my fundraiser for WWF.

For Personal Challenge, I am going to walk/jog 360000 steps in 30 days (15 June - 14 July). For general calculation purposes, it means that I will have to walk more than 11k steps (~8 km) per day to meet the target. Be it sunshine or rain (Well, I have to factor this considering I am in UK), I am going to walk/jog.

How will you know whether I will finish the challenge?
I will be sharing updates about my step count.

Why now?
Because, better late than never. Also, I am Jogging for Pandas and Fish because they can’t jog.

I would appreciate if you can donate and help whatever you can. Every penny counts and these funds will help WWF to continue the good work they are doing. Together, We can take a step closer to a habitat where humans and nature can thrive together.

Thanks for reading my story!
