How quickly time passes, it hardly seems a year since Philippa and I embarked on the great adventure of Just Walk 2010. We had a great time and between us we raised over £800 for Jo's Friends thanks to all of you who so kindly sponsored us. Now we are another year older but these fearless women in their 50s are still keen to fundraise and we will be pitting ourselves against the Sussex countryside yet again as we tackle another 10 km of challenging terrain on Just Walk 2011.
Many of you will know from last year that the charity I am fund raising for is Jo's Friends which provides information and support to people affected by a previously little known cancer, cancer of unknown primary (CUP). Do follow their link to find out more about them and the excellent work they are doing. I have a personal connection to the charity as Jo, who died five years ago as a result of CUP, was the sister of my good friend Philippa who I have known for over 30 years since I first met her when we were students at Exeter University. Jo's husband and Philippa set up the charity following Jo's death, as they were so concerned about the lack of information and support for families affected by CUP.
The walk is on 7 May 2011 and will take place in West Sussex. For anyone interested there is more info available on the web page of the organisers, Across the Divide http://www.acrossthedivide.com/index.php/products/event/p-00251.html
If anyone else would like to sign up for the walk and join our small but select team then please do so. You can join up with us through our team page https://www.justgiving.com/teams/CUP
Please do support me on the sponsored walk by making a donation through this page. If you know of anyone else who might be prepared to sponsor me or who would appreciate more information about CUP then please do send this page on to them
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please do sponsor us, your support will make a huge difference to us as we set off on the walk. But more importantly it will provide the charity with funding to continue to develop this much needed work and to support families affected by CUP.
Thank you
Margaret
