Hi everybody,
thank you so much for all your support and for all your kind donations. I am so pleased to have been able to raise all this money for the post-natal help line and I know it will help so many people.
Please have a look at the pictures and videos of my once in a life time experience.
I wasn't as nervous as I thought I was going to be, but I can tell you that 3 km is high and when you jump you come down it is fast!!!
I am still processing the whole experience so ask me in a few weeks time what I really think of it :-)
Lots of love,
Maria

Hi,
I know what you are thinking, what is she doing??? Maria, jumping out of an airplane?? But I guess that is living proof of how motherhood changes you :)
Yes, I going to celebrate Mother's day this year by doing something I have always wanted to do and show my kids what Mummy's made of. But most importantly I am doing this to raise money for a great cause.
NCT is the leading charity for pregnancy, birth and parents in the . It is run by parents, for parents, and has over 100,000 members over 300 branches covering the whole of the and . As a charity it campaigns for better facilities and support within ante natal care, labour and birth and post natal care.
The money you will help me raise will go towards the NCT Postnatal Line. As I know myself, adjusting to motherhood and looking after a new baby 24 hours a day, seven days a week, isn’t always easy. As a new mum you have worries and anxieties about feeling down or lonely, relationships changing, physical recovery after childbirth, self image and change of identity. At the same time you have to take care of this new little person you don't know so well yet, so everything he or she does is still a mystery and you don't always know what to do and how to do it. You need advice and help and reassurance. That's why the NCT Post help line is so important.
The goal is that all mothers should receive the right support and advice to help them look after themselves and their children. The fact that 10% of all new mums suffer from some form of depression after birth is so sad and the fact that the number is probably higher is even more tragic. We are reminded of that every time we hear the horrible news of a mum who hasn't been able to cope anymore with devastating consequences to herself and her children. That should never happen again!!
New parents can call the NCT help line about anything and everything. They call about their babies not settling, the effects on them of their baby crying or not sleeping well, dealing with colic, and they also seek information on baby feeding and weaning.
These calls, involving a combination of psycho-social and practical issues are complex and need to be responded to by a suitably qualified person. The NCT’s trained postnatal leaders are best placed to deliver this service. They can provide a reflective listening service to support new parents in making decisions that are right for them and their families. They understand the turmoil that so many new demands and changes can bring.
They can help to contain the feelings of helplessness and frustration that so many new parents feel. By listening and responding to individual concerns, help parents to see their difficulties in context, appreciate the positive things that they are achieving and help them to achieve strategies for moving forward.
The money I am raising will go directly towards keeping the line open to more mums and dads who need it.
